Erkers Marie's first exhibition in Tällberg, Leksand in 1977 was something of a birth for her further painting. In the following years she studied the history of Dalarna and devoted her painting to depictions of folk life and interiors in her beloved Dalarna.
Since 1987, her national romantic paintings have been included annually in the Swedish Almanac. The motifs depict seasons, landscapes, people and moods from different parts of Sweden. Her highly personal pictorial compositions radiate a unique warmth. Her painting style lies on the border between naïveté and naturalism.
In 1988, Erkers Marie published her first children's book, which has since resulted in three more pieces. The fourth book resulted in a family musical in Dalhalla. Even in her writing, she has managed to convey the special warmth that is reflected in the paintings.
In 2000, Erkers Marie also began sculpting figurines, with great success. More than 60 different figurines characterized by Erkers Marie's inimitable style are available to enjoy. The figurines are cast in marble sand and hand-painted.
